This tour gives you a taste of all that Nepal has to offer, with time spent exploring the ancient city of Kathmandu, a short trek in the foothills of the majestic Annapurna mountain range, some easy white-water rafting on the Trisuli river, and a range of wildlife safaris in Chitwan National Park. Taken together, you enjoy a comprehensive introduction to the history & culture, natural beauty, and adventure that Nepal has to offer.
Your tour starts in Nepal’s intriguing capital city, Kathmandu. Here we tour the centre of the city on foot with its many temples, stupas, and narrow winding streets. We also visit the ancient centre of Bhaktapur and the hilltop village of Nagarkot in the surrounding valley. Here we get great views of the mountains, giving us a taste of our trekking to come.
Leaving Kathmandu we start two exciting days of white water rafting on the Trisuli river. We begin slowly, as our guides teache you all we need to know for
the rapids to come, and soon enough the exciting white water looms
ahead. We spend the night camping on the banks of the river and after passing the final rapid, we deflate the rafts and take a fun local bus journey to

You spend the next few days in and around the park, relaxing and taking in some of the activities on offer. A canoe ride down the Rapti River is an idyllic way to see some of the rare breeds of birds that use the waterway. A Jungle walk through the park follows, hopefully seeing Sloth Bear, tiger or rhino. We also include an elephant ride or jeep safari, and a Tharu village walk.
After leaving Chitwan, we travel west across the heart of Nepal to the beautiful lakeside town of Pokhara, nestling in the foothills of the majestic Annapurna mountain range. We include a short tour here, to the Peace Pagoda and Tibetan refugee camp, and you also have some free time to take a boat out on the lake, or hire some bikes and go exploring.
A short drive up into the hills then takes us to the start of our trek into the mountains.
Passing through small rural villages, forests, and terraced farmland, you climb up to Ghorepani, where you enjoy breathtaking views of the mighty, snow-capped Annapurna mountain range from the summit of Poon Hill. After a spectacular sunrise on Poon Hill, you descend from Ghorepani through varied countryside before returning to Pokhara.
Then it’s another interesting and scenic drive back to Kathmandu and a little extra sightseeing or perhaps a final shopping spree before your tour ends and you must say farewell to Nepal. You can join one of our small-group departures on this tour, do it privately, or use it as a base for a tailor-made itinerary. Options are available to do a mountain flight to view Everest, or extend the tour to do some more technical & demanding rafting on the Bhote Khosi river, or visit the Royal Bardia National Park.
Note - if you like the look of this tour, but don't want to do the rafting, then you can travel straight from Kathmandu to Chitwan missing out the rafting action, and doing some extra safari activities instead (a small supplement will apply to the price)
Note: All our prices include a trekking pack (sleeping bag, trekking poles, down jacket), and 3 meals per day on the trek.
