"Despite the road conditions, our drivers and the vehicles used gave us a feeling of confidence. A very good first impression of Nepal- excellent."

KATHMANDU YAK AND YETI HOTEL
P.O. Box: 1016, Durbar Marg, Kathmandu, Nepal.

Note: The following information is provided from our own visits & research, the hotel itself, and our clients' experience of using the hotel.

Introduction:
Yak & Yeti Hotel, KathmanduThe Yak and Yeti hotel was built in 1977 alongside a 100 year old palace and combines modern 5 star facilities with traditional Nepalese character. The original palace houses the hotel’s casino and banqueting halls, however the main hotel features many traditional Nepali features, and some of the carved display windows are over 200 years old. The hotel is large and modern and offers high standards and levels of service along with a wide range of facilities. The hotel also has extensive gardens with views of the Himalayas in the background.
We use this as our first choice hotel for clients who wish to upgrade to a superior level hotel in Kathmandu.

Location:

The hotel is set in the original palace grounds right in the heart of Kathmandu. It is set back from the main road of Durbar Marg where there are many modern shops, hotels and restaurants. The hotel is close to the palace of the modern day King of Nepal and the main tourist area of Thamel with its many shops, bars and restaurants is just a short walk away. The International airport of Kathmandu is just 8 kilometres away (20-30 minutes)

Accommodation:

Deluxe Room, Yak & Yeti hotel

The hotel has a total of 270 rooms and suites with 150 deluxe rooms in the new Durbar wing and 120 superior rooms in the more traditional Newari wing. Rooms in the Durbar wing are modern and are decorated in warm pastel shades, whilst rooms in the Newari wing have features such as Nepalese woodcarvings and brick walls, and are more traditionally furnished.

All rooms have views of either the city or gardens with the Himalayas in the background and have twin or double beds with en suite bathroom. The rooms are all air-conditioned and are equipped with satellite TV, mini-bar, internet access and electrical sockets, with bathrobes, slippers and a hairdryer provided in each room. There is a non-smoking floor in the Durbar wing and there are elevators to all floors in both wings.

Bars & Restaurants:
Dining in the Yak & YetiThe Sunrise Café is the main hotel restaurant and is located in the lobby of the hotel. It is open from 6.30am until 11.00pm and serves buffet breakfast, lunch and dinner. The Chimney restaurant was established by the famous Russian Boris Lissanevitch and features high vaulted ceilings along with an open copper-shafted fireplace. The restaurant is open for dinner only and offers a selection of international dishes including a selection of Russian specialities.
There is only one main bar in the hotel and this is The Pub which located n the lobby and is open all day from 11am until 11pm.
