Nepal is shrouded in myths and legends, and as well as being home to the highest mountains on earth and spectacular scenery, the country has an extremely rich cultural heritage. Bordered by India and China, this tiny independent Hindu Kingdom has maintained its own sovereignty and identity, but still has a wide range of different ethnic groups with different agriculture and lifestyles. These change mainly as you progress northwards from the lowland plains near India, the Terai, through the midland foothills, the Pahar, and up into the mountainous Himalaya itself.
